ACAMS ATIS Supports High-Availability ATM Operations through Mid Life Update in Singapore

ACAMS Airport Tower Solutions has been supporting the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) with its advanced ATIS platform.

ACAMS Airport Tower Solutions has been supporting the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) with its advanced ATIS platform, providing a highly resilient solution for one of Asia’s most demanding air traffic environments.

ACAMS’ ATIS solution provides highly reliable automated terminal information services, enabling controllers and operational stakeholders to distribute accurate and real-time aeronautical and weather information efficiently. Built on a flexible architecture, the platform can be adapted to different operational, technical and regulatory requirements while supporting long-term system evolution.

According to William Yap, Regional Manager Asia Pacific at ACAMS, the company’s ability to closely align its technology with customer requirements played an important role in securing the original project. Rather than offering a rigid, one-size-fits-all system, ACAMS was able to tailor the solution around Singapore’s specific operational requirements, redundancy expectations and demanding availability criteria.

Redundancy designed around operational continuity

One of the defining characteristics of the Singapore deployment is its exceptionally high level of redundancy and resilience.

The ATIS platform incorporates a triple-homing architecture, with processing capabilities distributed across three different locations. While redundancy across two locations would normally provide a high level of resilience, the Singapore configuration goes considerably further, reflecting CAAS’ strong emphasis on system availability and uninterrupted ATM operations.

This demanding implementation also contributed to the continued development and maturity of the ACAMS ATIS platform. Experience gained from meeting advanced customer requirements can subsequently be incorporated into ACAMS’ technology and applied to other ATIS projects around the world.

Continuing the journey with a new technology refresh

That relationship is now entering its next phase. In July 2026, ACAMS secured a technology refresh of the existing ATIS solution, covering both hardware and software.

The refresh is particularly focused on maintaining the system in line with evolving cybersecurity requirements. As third-party software and hardware components reach end-of-support or end-of-life, they need to be renewed to ensure that the overall platform remains secure and supportable. Hardware that has now been operating for seven to eight years is also being renewed as part of the programme.

Rather than changing the fundamental operational concept of the ATIS solution, the technology refresh is therefore about protecting its long-term reliability, security and maintainability, an important consideration for mission-critical ATM infrastructure.

The current architecture remains based on a dedicated server-and-client configuration. ACAMS’ latest ATIS generation also supports browser-based web access, demonstrating how the platform continues to evolve while allowing customers to select the architecture that best meets their operational and security requirements.

The refreshed system is expected to support operations through 2030 and potentially beyond, providing continuity.

Combining ACAMS technology with strong local support

The project continues to build on the partnership model established with the original implementation. ACAMS works together with its established Singapore partners, including ST Engineering, combining ACAMS’ ATIS technology and specialist expertise with strong local project and support capabilities.

For ACAMS, the project demonstrates an important part of its approach to critical ATM systems: delivering the required solution is only the beginning. Maintaining, supporting and technologically refreshing that solution throughout its operational lifecycle is equally important.

With more than 25 years of experience in integrated tower and ATM solutions, ACAMS supports airports and air navigation service providers worldwide with technology built around integration, flexibility, resilience and long-term operational continuity.
